Thanks for your explanations, i was never good at physics in school - but I know my LLK works good...

Hallo Gerd,
Your intercooler is perfect for a tuned SLK (also of course for a not tuned one )
Best regards
Rob

Exactly. Because intake air temps are lower.
What about at cold days? Is power the same or lower? Is there any dyno graph that can proove HP gains with bigger (ACC) IC or is that only "wish effect" ?

| I dont believe in "Wish Effects" ... but didnt have a Dyno run yet. In Bavaria i live on "Lands End" ...
There is much more Power on Cold Days - what is logig, oder not ? Even my very poor Motorised Smart runs better in the Morning than when in drive Home after Work. You feel it even on a 600 ccm / 3 Cylinder / Turbocharged "Microengine" !!!!!

So on what basis can you convince me that ACC LLK bring real HP gains? And you dont trust but-meter/wish effect...So what DO you trust? Empty promises? Sory, but ONLY thing that I trust is dyno pull before/after.
P.S. Of course is logical that colder air bring more power with stock LLK, but we are talking about aftermarket LLKs and i was asking you if you feel more power at cold days with ACC LLK than with the stock LLK (at the same cold temperatures)? Dont make me think that you avoiding this question (base on your answer about smart, which have no releations to bigger IC)...

| Okay, i try to explain it ....
"Playing" with much other Cars for the last 20 Years makes me feel that the HP has increased, even without colorful Diagrams of a Dyno or some "G-Force-Playthings" ... i believe in what my Rear End stuck in the Driverseat tells me, not what empty Promises of Tuners do ... not only once i kicked the Rubbish-Parts Back to the Dealer, because it wasnt worth the Material it was made of.
I drove Home on a hot Day, beeing nerved, that the SLk didnt run good ... i built in the bigger Intercooler and made a Testrun on the same Road i came home at the same Temperature !!! ... Defnetely it runs better since then !!!
Is building in a bigger Intercooler like several serios Tuners / Rally-Teams and Manufacturers do, than complete Rubbish, because they dont make a Dyno Run before and after for the critical Customers ? Believe me, it works ... Based on simple Physics !!!
BTW - either its a Mercedes or a Smart or a Japanese Car ... the technical and physical Basics are the Same

| Of course, when no real arguments left, the only thing that remains is sentence "beleave me, it works". Sorry, but you didnt convince me at that one. I certanly will try one on my own, but i highly doubt in it; No one on benz world forum (and i men NO one) EVER neather prooved (dyno), neather found intercooler which REALLY bring some HP to M111. Now if CC IC really CAN bring some measurrable HP gains, beleave me, at least 500 people from benmz world will instantly buy one....I hope you u8nderstand what i am saying.
It is the same as chip tuining thing. Till today no one really post a dyno pre/post pulls, where man can see that chiptuning on pulleyed M111 really bring some HP....

Hello Gerd,
so it is time that you prove your promised performance gain, I myself have my doubts concerning the power-gaining effect of a bigger intercooler - especially without changing the car's front.
Theoretically a bigger intercooler causes more flow losses, therefore the effective pressure difference between intercooler intake and outlet must be bigger than in the original one - is your intercooler optimized for airflow or is it an original water cooler? This can and does make a great difference...
The second point is how the intercooler is flown against using the serial SLK front. Without the serial air guide plates the airflow though the intercooler is worse compared to serial standard, so there can't be an additional cooling effect...in MY opinion!
By believe and illusion people can convice themselves very easy...even I myself hear and feel things in my car that are not there...I also feel differences in the power output...but feelings have to be proven!!
Cheers,
Michael
